Blaine, MN (Friday, July 11th, 2008) - The Carolina RailHawks (4-4-7) tied the Minnesota Thunder (4-7-5) Friday night 2-2 in a match that was delayed almost two hours at the half for severe weather in Minnesota. Martin Nuñez and Santiago Fusilier both scored for the RailHawks while newcomer Hamed Diallo recorded his first assist on the RailHawks second goal. The Thunder scored early in the 7th minute with Dale Weiler assisted by Freddy Moojen. Carolina Tied it up in the 26th minute when Santiago Fusilier was brought down in the penalty box by Thunder goalkeeper Nic Platter. The referee awarded a penalty kick that was transformed by midfielder Martin Nuñez. The RailHawks scored again when Hamed Diallo slotted a ball to Santiago Fusilier who easily beat Minnesota's keeper sending the teams to the locker rooms with a score of 2-1 in favor of the visiting team at the half. The match was then delayed for two hours and when the teams returned to the pitch Minnesota continued to hunt for an equalizer. The match turned in the 64th minute when Martin Nuñez received his second caution in as many minutes and was sent off by the referee. Down a man the RailHawks continued to create chances as well as try to contain Minnesota's siege of Chris McClellan's goal. McClellan made some terrific saves including one in the 66th minute while on the pitch on his back. Unfortunately for the RailHawks the lead wouldn't hold and in the 80th minute Minnesota forward Melvin Tarley picked up a rebound from McClellan and tallied the equalizer fixing the final result on 2-2.
