St. Louis, MO - The Carolina RailHawks (4-2-6, 18 pts.) continued their positive road streak on Saturday night by defeating AC St. Louis (2-8-2, 8 pts.) 2-0 at Anheuser-Busch Stadium. Jospeh Kabwe and Josh Gardner scored a goal per half to put the RailHawks in second place in the NASL Conference of the USSF D-2. The RailHawks have three games in hand over conference leader Vancouver. Eric Reed was able to preserve the shutout, his second of the season.

"We had a good week of training and I saw a lot of improvement," said RailHawks coach Martin Rennie. "We were able to control the pace of the game and I felt it was a very good win to continue our excellent form on the road."

The RailHawks started controlling the pace of the game right off the bat. A 12th minute dangerous free kick by David Hayes at the top of the 18 yard box was deflected into a corner by St. Louis goalkeeper Alec Dufty. Then a 13th minute one-two-three between Gardner, Bundu and Franks resulted in a shot out wide. Three minutes later Gregory Richardson picked up the ball in the St. Louis box and shot it out to Joseph Kabwe who ripped a rocket from 25 yards out that proved to be too strong for Dufty allowing for the 1-0 lead. St Louis got dangerous towards the end of the half with Mike Ambersley in the 42nd and Gauchiño in the 45th but The RailHawks defense and Eric Reed were able to thwart St. Louis' attempts sending the teams to the locker room with the halftime lead.

The RailHawks continued to attack during the second half and almost got on the board again in the 47th minute when Richardson hit the post from the top right of the 18 after having beaten Dufty. St Louis showed a few dangerous plays but was never really a threat to the RailHawks. in the 51st Reed saved a point blank shot by Luke Kreamalmeyer. Then, in the 62nd minute, Josh Gardner was served a ball by Joseph Kabwe right in the top right corner of the box. Gardner settled it and lifted it towards the top left corner of the net for the insurance 2-0 goal. A 68th minute shot by Bundu went high above the crossbar and a 69th minute shot by Kabwe was deflected in corner showing that the RailHawks were not letting up, hungry for more. In the end Reed was able to preserve his second shutout of the season and the win.

"It was a very good setup from Gregory [Richardson]," said Kabwe about his phenomenal 1-0 goal. "Once I got the ball I did everything I could to strike it hard and fortunately it went in."
