North Carolina FC News Release
Cary, NC- The Carolina RailHawks announced today they have extended Mickey Daly's one-month loan to a permanent contract. Daly came to Carolina on loan from United Soccer League (USL) side Bethlehem Steel FC on July 21, 2016. Per club policy, further terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
"Mickey has been very good for us. He's someone we knew a little bit about and was available at a time when we needed some help," said Head Coach Colin Clarke. "He's come in and done very well. He's a good passer of the ball, and a very steady defender. He was thrown into the deep end when he first got here, but he's done very well with us, and we are happy to have him."
A native of Sonoma, Ca., Daly began his professional career in North Carolina with the Wilmington Hammerheads of the USL in 2013. The California State University, Los Angeles product moved to Sacramento Republic FC for the 2014 and 2015 seasons where he appeared in 57 games recording six goals. He was signed by the Bethlehem Steel in 2016, appearing in nine matches and tallying one goal.
Since joining the RailHawks, Mickey has started in three out of five games played, earning 426 minutes. Daly made his first appearance for the team at home against Miami on July 22, the day after his loan was announced, where he subbed in for Matt Watson and played 65 minutes.
"Being here has been great, all the guys are really good, and really welcoming," said Daly. "I'm looking forward to getting some wins in the next couple of games and try to get into the playoffs."
Watch Daly and the RailHawks take on the Jacksonville Armada FC at home on Saturday, September 3 at WakeMed Soccer Park at 7:30 p.m. ET.
