CARY, NC - The Carolina RailHawks (1W-3D-2L, 6 pts.) travelled to San Antonio and lost a tough contest against the Scorpions (1W-1D-3L, 1 pts.) on Saturday night at Toyota Field.

"This is obviously not the result we anticipated. We got punished for our mistakes in the second half," said RailHawks Head Coach Colin Clark. "We worked very hard tonight and it is disappointing we couldn't bring any points back home."

The home team started the game with high pressure. However, the RailHawks created the first real opportunity when Shipalane brought down a long ball with an excellent touch and whipped in a dangerous cross that Baladez could not reach.

The Scorpions responded to this by playing in behind the RailHawks defense, but to no avail. The RailHawks started to gain a foothold with good possession, but they could not gain any penetration. The teams went in at halftime with the score line deadlocked at 0-0.

The RailHawks continued the trend from the first half by inviting pressure from the home side and then pouncing on the counter attack. Both teams fought for possession in the middle of the field, but neither team was able to create many dangerous opportunities.

The Scorpions broke the deadlock in the 79th minute when Dike scored a tap-in into an empty net. The RailHawks immediately responded when Anderson brought down a cross from a corner and blasted a shot from 18 yards that almost clipped the top of the cross bar.

The single goal proved to be enough for the Scorpions as they won their first match of the season and the RailHawks suffer their first away loss.

The RailHawks will return to WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday, May 16th when they take on rival New York Cosmos.
