North Carolina FC News Release
CARY, N.C. (Thursday, May 13 2010) - The RailHawks (1-1-2, 5 pts.) host the FC Tampa Bay Rowdies (1-1-2, 5 pts.) on Friday night at WakeMed Soccer park at 7 p.m. The match is presented by Time Warner Cable and all fans in attendance will receive RailHawks thunder sticks courtesy of the premier cable company in North Carolina. Tickets ($10, $15 and $20) are still available at the LGFCU Box Office, by calling 919-859-5425 or by visiting www.carolinarailhawks.com
"It's nice to be back home after two games on the road," said RailHawks coach Martin Rennie. "We have improved our level of performance a lot since our last home game and it is important to show that to our fans especially knowing that we will be on the road for a bit."
This is the only RailHawks home match in May. They are coming off a two-game trip to Rochester and Miami that resulted in back-to-back ties, and they embark on four-game trip that will take them to Puerto Rico (May 26), Montreal (May 30), Portland (June 6) and Vancouver (June 9).
"It is important for us to get a positive result," said RailHawks midfielder Daniel Paladini. "We have a hard road trip ahead of us and a win will give us more confidence and help us get more focused. It is also important to come away with a win tomorrow to show our fans how much our performance has improved."
RailHawks fans will most likely see the debut of newly-acquired defender David Hayes. The veteran player was signed this week to add depth to the backline since both John Gilkerson (suspension) and Kupono Low (injury) will be unavailable.
The FC Tampa Bay Rowdies are also coming off back-to-back ties against Miami and most recently against the Austin Aztex. They are led by former RailHawk and NC State alum Aaron King, who leads the Rowdies in goals scored, and by midfielder Chad Burt who spent last summer running the RailHawks camps and training with the team.
Next the RailHawks travel to Puerto Rico to face the Islanders on May 26 at Ramon Loubriel Stadium in Bayamon, PR. Their next regular season home match will be Saturday June 19 at 7 p.m. as they host Crystal Palace Baltimore. It will be Bark in the Park at WakeMed Soccer Park and fans are encouraged to bring their pets to the stadium for some affordable family fun. Tickets for all home matches are available at the LGFCU Box Office, by calling 919-859-5425 or by visiting www.carolinarailhawks.com.
