North Carolina FC News Release

The Carolina RailHawks head to Minnesota for a mid-week fixture against the Stars that they're hoping will seal their place in the postseason.

The RailHawks (10-8-8, 38 points) can clinch a playoff berth on Wednesday with a win over the Stars (8-12-7, 31 points).

"The team's been finding good consistency going into the final part of the season and we're looking to get a good result on Wednesday to get us into the playoffs and continue our good form," said RailHawks coach Martin Rennie.

The match kicks off at 8 p.m. and can be seen online at CarolinaRailHawks.com.

The RailHawks hit the road unbeaten and unscored upon in their last two games (1-0-1). The RailHawks have been outstanding on the road all season, posting a 6-3-4 record away from WakeMed Soccer Park and establishing a new club record for away wins.

Wednesday's visit to the National Sports Center marks Carolina's only visit to Blaine, Minn., this season, and it will be the last of two matches in the season series with the Stars. Minnesota won the teams' first meeting of the year 1-0 at WakeMed Soccer Park on April 16.

Like Carolina, the Stars are fighting for a playoff berth, too. They enter the match in position for the eighth and final playoff spot. Minnesota is three points ahead of Tampa Bay, but the Rowdies have a game in hand.

The RailHawks will play their final road game of the regular season on Saturday at Crystal Palace Baltimore. Carolina returns home to WakeMed Soccer Park on Sept. 25 to face the Puerto Rico Islanders, and the RailHawks will close out the regular season at home on Oct. 1 against the Austin Aztex.
