Cary, NC (April,12 2015) - The Carolina RailHawks (1W-1D-0L; 4pts) earned their fourth point of the season against FC Edmonton (0W-1D-1L; 1pts) on Sunday with a draw to tie for first place in the NASL Spring Season standings.

"This is a place we've come to and have had it handed to us a few times, so we had to roll our sleeves up and show some character. We certainly showed that today," said RailHawks Head Coach Colin Clarke. "In the second half, we played against the wind and a strong and physical team and we dealt with it very well."

Carolina used a strong headwind on the cold and blustery day to their advantage to gain a handful of early chances in the first half.

Tiyi Shipalane used his skill to beat a couple of defenders and led Daniel Scott for point blank shot that was swallowed by FC Edmonton keeper Matt VanOekel. Shortly after, Nazmi Albadawi found himself alone with only the keeper to beat, but the feed was too wide and he failed to get a good look at the goal.

From there, both squads struggled to get anything going for the majority of the first half. Finally, Leo Osaki chipped a perfect ball to Nacho Novo who finished the play into the upper 90 for his second goal of the season in the 41st minute.

Just as the RailHawks thought they would go to the locker room up one, Edmonton's Lance Laing fired an open shot in front of the Carolina net that turned out to be the equalizer in stoppage time.

The majority of the second half was a defensive stalemate as the two squads traded possession throughout. Down the stretch, Edmonton turned up the attack in search of their first win of the season. However, the RailHawks defense held strong and preserved the draw for their fourth point in the NASL standings.

The RailHawks will return to WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday, April 18th when they take on rival Atlanta Silverbacks FC. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and over the radio on 99.9HD-3 The Ticket.
