North Carolina FC News Release
CARY, NC (Friday, July 09, 2010) - The Carolina RailHawks (4-2-6, 18 pts.) continue their road trip this weekend in Puerto Rico where they will face the Islanders (4-7-1, 13 pts.) at Ramon Loubriel Stadium this Sunday, July 11, at 7:05 p.m. The match will be seen on the Islanders website at www.prislandersfc.com. As always you can follow a play-by-play match tracker on Twitter @RailHawksFC.
"We have a lot of respect for the Puerto Rico Islanders as they are a very good team," said RailHawks coach Martin Rennie. "We had to fight until the last minute of stoppage to get a win last time we were there and we're hoping we can find a way to win again. There is usually a good crowd over there and the field can get ripped up fairly easily so we have to take all those things into account and still perform at our top level."
The RailHawks are currently undefeated on the road and will look to continue to uphold the record. Last time they were in Puerto Rico a 95th minute goal by Daniel Paladini broke the 1-1 tie to give the RailHawks the upper hand. This will be the second of four matches between the two teams. Last week Carolina continued their road warrior stance with a clear 2-0 victory at Anheuser Busch Stadium against AC St. Louis with goals by Joseph Kabwe and Josh Gardner.
Puerto Rico's attack is led by forwards David Foley (five goals) and Josh Hansen (3 goals, 3 assists). They are 2-4-2 since they last played the RailHawks and will play one more game before the showdown with Carolina as they host Crystal Palace Baltimore tonight.
Next the RailHawks continue their road trip with two more matches in the span of seven days as they travel to Montreal on July 14 and end their road trip in Rochester on July 17. They return home for a midweek game on July 27 when they host the Rochester Rhinos at 7 p.m. It will be Brewsday Tuesday as all draft beer will only be $1. $49 Family Four-packs are also available for advance purchase for this match.
