Cary, N.C. (Friday, July 02, 2010) - The Carolina RailHawks (3-2-6, 15 pts) begin their second four-game road trip of the season this weekend as they face AC St. Louis (2-7-2, 8 pts) at Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park in St Louis, MO on Saturday night. The match is set for 8:10 p.m. and RailHawks fans can view it on the AC St. Louis live streaming site at www.ac-stlouis.com.
"St. Louis has been improving a lot in the last couple of games," said RailHawks coach Martin Rennie. "It will be a good game where we will look forward to maintain our positive away streak."
This is the second of only two matchups between the two teams with the RailHawks having the best of St. Louis with a 2-0 win on opening day last April. On that occasion, Etienne Barbara made his RailHawks debut scoring both goals in the first half. St Louis began the match down a man as one of their players, forward Manuel Kante, had left his identification at the team hotel and their head coach did not want to use a substitution.
Since then, AC St. Louis went through some significant changes losing MLS star Steve Ralston, Manuel Kante and Christian Nzinga as well as making a recent coaching change. On June 24, Claude Anelka was relieved from his duties and replaced by veteran youth coach Dale Schilly. Schilly made his debut on June 26 with a 0-0 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps.
The RailHawks are undefeated on the road this season with a 2-0-4 record and will look to continue their positive streak against a defense that has conceded 17 goals in eleven games played. Carolina is coming off a controversial 2-2 draw against the Montreal Impact after the referee awarded the tying penalty to the Impact in the 94th minute.
Next the RailHawks continue their road trip with three matches in the span of seven days as the return to Puerto Rico on July 11, travel to Montreal on July 14 and end their road trip in Rochester on July 17. They return home for a midweek game on July 27 when they host the Rochester Rhinos at 7 p.m. It will be Brewsday Tuesday as all draft beer will only be $1. $49 Family Four-packs are also available for advance purchase for this match.
