North Carolina FC News Release

CARY, NC (February 20, 2014) - Former NC State forward Aaron King returns to the Carolina RailHawks for the upcoming 2014 NASL Season.

King is added to the growing list of RailHawks with soccer ties to North Carolina, becoming the 19th player since 2011. A 3-time All-ACC selection for the NC State Men's soccer program, King left his mark on the Wolfpack's record book. The strikers' 44 goals scored sits 4th all-time and 103 points is best for 7th best on the scoring list. King's 15 goal season in 2005 earned him All-American honors and a draft pick in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft.

RailHawks head coach Colin Clarke expects King to be a great addition to the team's front line. "Aaron adds a wealth of experience in our league and a history scoring goals," stated Clarke. "His combination of size and speed make him difficult for any defense. The expectation is for Aaron to come in and put the ball in the back of the net."

Over the course of a 7 year career, King spent time with the Charleston Battery, Wilmington Hammerheads, Miami FC, and Tampa Bay Rowdies. In 2013, King began the year with Phoenix FC before going overseas to Finland, where he joined 9-time league champion FC Haka. King had a brief stint with the RailHawks during the 2009 Season.

Over his well-traveled professional career, King has played 7,286 minutes and scored 46 goals. King's career stats give the forward a strike rate better than one goal per every 180 minutes, the equivalent of two matches. Over a two-year period with the Rowdies from 2010-2011, the Denver, Colorado native had his highest scoring seasons with 22 goals. King is also no stranger to US Open Cup success, finishing as a runner-up in the 2008 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
