Cary, NC (Monday, March 23, 2009) - The Carolina RailHawks announced today the addition of MLS champion and Turks and Caicos International Forward Gavin Glinton, pending League and USSF approval. Glinton is expected to play in the match against CD Olimpia of Honduras on Friday, March 27 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets ($20, $27.50 and $35) are still available at the LGFCU Box Office, by calling 919-859-KICK (5425) or by visiting www.carolinarailhawks.com.

"Gavin is a player I have followed throughout his career," said RailHawks Head Coach Martin Rennie. "I always admired him and had an interest in having him on my teams. When I finally had a chance to bring him in I jumped at the opportunity. I think he brings pace and goal scoring and he can play different positions. I also think he is a great guy to have in the locker room."

"I wanted to come to the RailHawks after talking with Coach Rennie," said RailHawks forward Gavin Glinton. "After I heard what the organization is trying to build here in one of the best facilities in the country, I thought It would be a really good fit for me. I am looking to work hard with the team and hopefully give the fans something to be proud of."

A former NSCAA All-American with Bradley University, Glinton was selected in the second round of the 2002 MLS Superdraft by the Los Angeles Galaxy. He made 31 appearances and scored two goals while helping the Galaxy win an MLS championship in 2002. In 2004, after spending part of the previous year with the Dallas Burn, Glinton took some time out of competitive playing to take up a post as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Bradley University.

"Winning a championship so early in my career was great," Glinton continued. "But when you go a few years without them you realize and learn to appreciate the ones you have. I am hungry for more silverware and hope to achieve that here with the Open Cup and the League Championship."

In 2006, Glinton returned to competitive soccer with the Charleston Battery where he led the team in goals with 11 and in points with 22 in only 23 matches played. He was also selected team MVP by the Battery's fans. Following the 2006 USL-1 season he was called back to the Galaxy where he was used mostly as an impact sub by then Galaxy coach Frank Yallop. In 2007 he followed coach Yallop to the San Jose Earthquakes where he spent the 2007 and 2008 seasons before joining the RailHawks this year.

Gavin Glinton plays for the Turks and Caicos national team and is their highest ever goalscorer with four goals. He scored one of the goals in their first ever win in a FIFA international over the Cayman Islands in a Digicel Caribbean Cup game in Cuba. He has earned 6 caps in total, three of them in World Cup qualification games.

With the USL-1 season just around the corner and opening day on April 11th, the Carolina RailHawks' 2009 season ticket drive is in full swing with the "All-Inclusive" package, that includes the CD Olimpia exhibition on March 27, as well as other packages tailored to every soccer fan's needs.
