Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release
GARY, Ind. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats are ready to go for their Independence Day game with the Winnipeg Goldeyes. However, the RailCats hope to collect more than just hits on the Fourth of July at U. S. Steel Yard.
On Saturday, July 4, the RailCats will be collecting supplies to support Operation AC, Inc., a non-profit charity based out of Delaware. Operation AC is a cause which amasses a range of supplies for United States military troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Various items are collected through donations and sent overseas. Along with these supplies, Operation AC raises money to provide satellite communication technologies to troops so that they may make contact with their families while stationed in foreign countries.
The RailCats will be doing their part to support this fantastic cause. Gates open at 6 p.m. on July 4 at U. S. Steel Yard and fans who bring an item to be sent overseas will receive $2 off their ticket purchase. Items can include things like various toiletries, calling cards, first aid supplies and kits, reading materials, foot powder, socks, gloves, baby wipes, playing cards, DVDs, and other items that can help our soldiers. Soldiers with valid military ID can also receive $2 off their tickets and family members of the military can get $1 off. For more information on the cause of Operation AC, visit www.operationac.com.
Tickets are available for the entirety of the holiday weekend and can be purchased by calling (219) 882-2255, by visiting the U. S. Steel Yard box office or by logging onto www.railcatsbaseball.com.
