RailCats Sign Benji Miller to 2004 Contract

GARY – The Gary SouthShore RailCats have signed pitcher Benji Miller to a 2004 contract, the team announced today.

Miller, 27, went 0-3, 5.30 ERA with 12 saves in 34 appearances for the RailCats in 2003. Miller finished tied for fourth in the Northern League in saves, converting 11 of his first 13 save opportunities.

The right-hander is 6-8, 3.71 ERA with 23 saves in two seasons with the RailCats. Miller is the RailCats all-time leader in games pitched (75), saves, and relief wins.

In six professional seasons, including parts of five campaigns in the San Francisco Giants organization, Miller is 19-29, 3.48 ERA with 67 saves in 260 appearances, all in relief.

Miller attended Liberty University, where he set numerous school records, including a 20-strikeout game, after starring as a multi-sport standout at Smithtown Christian High School on Long Island, N.Y.

Miller, the 11th player to sign a 2004 contract with the RailCats, is the lone player remaining from the inaugural RailCats Opening Day roster in 2002.
