Sioux Falls Canaries News Release

(SIOUX FALLS, SD) – Sioux Falls Canaries fans will be tuned into a new voice on the radio this summer as Justin Kutcher takes over the duties as radio broadcaster. Kutcher will be the Voice of the Canaries for all of the Canaries games this season, which are aired on KWSN radio, and he will handle the majority of the communications responsibilities for the organization. Kutcher replaces former Canaries Communications Manager and Radio Broadcaster Greg Detter who recently accepted a similar position with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization in Vero Beach, Fla.

"The opportunity to work with an established organization, to work with a general manager who I've heard nothing but great things about, and to be the sole radio broadcaster for a baseball team brings me to Sioux Falls," Kutcher said.

The 23-year-old sports enthusiast spent last season with Triple-A Portland of the Pacific Coast League. Although he held numerous responsibilities for the Beavers, Kutcher's main focus was radio broadcasting. While in Portland, he also did play-by-play for the A-League soccer team and called occasional high school basketball games. Another highlight of Kutcher's campaign in the Portland area was his work as a statistician for the Portland Trailblazers. Prior to his experience with the Beavers, Kutcher worked in the Cape Cod Baseball League.

"After reviewing more than 50 applications, Justin stood out as our ideal candidate," Canaries General Manager John Hindle said. "His demo tape is terrific, he has a great voice, and he's a student of the game of baseball. We couldn't ask for a better fit for our organization."

A 2002 graduate of Boston University, the Fairfield, Conn., native is no stranger to sports broadcasting. Kutcher has traveled across the country, working for Fox Sports, Sports Fan Radio Network and Madison Square Garden Network. Working as a statistician with Joe Buck and Tim McCarver of Fox Sports as well as serving as a spotter for Fox's football broadcasts during the baseball post-season were highlights of Kutcher's career thus far.

The Canaries also welcome Andy Henning and Kevin Heibult to the front office staff for the 2004 season. Henning is handling the promotions duties and Heibult is the group sales manager. The pair joined the team in February.

The Canaries kick off the 2004 season on May 20 at the Birdcage against the visiting St. Paul Saints. Great tickets packages are now on sale and can be ordered by calling (605) 333-0179.
