Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release
GARY, Ind. - The final month of the Northern League season is right around the corner and the Gary SouthShore RailCats are set to begin the final stretch of 2009 with a week of huge promotions and giveaways.
Monday, August 3, the RailCats start the month off right with Vegas Night when one lucky fan will win a two-night trip for two to fabulous Las Vegas with airfare and accommodations provided by the RailCats. Elvis impersonators and other Vegas-themed promotions will be on display at the ballpark. Not only is there a trip to Vegas up for grabs, but the RailCats have teamed up with the Chicago White Sox to give fans the chance to see two teams for the price of one RailCat ticket. On Monday and Tuesday, the first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive a voucher good for one free ticket to a Chicago White Sox game at U.S. Cellular Field. In association with Comcast, the vouchers will be passed out at U. S. Steel Yard and can be taken to U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago or mailed in and exchanged for an Upper Reserved ticket. The vouchers are good for the rest of the 2009 season with more information on ticket availability and exceptions at www.whitesox.com.
The RailCats are teaming Vegas Night with Hospitality Night where those in the hospitality industry are invited to join the RailCats in fun on-field promotions like keg carrying and bottle-juggling contests. Those who wear their industry uniforms get $2 off their first ticket at the box office. It is also a Dollar Monday, presented by NIEMI Associates, giving patrons a second ticket for only $1 with the purchase of a regular priced ticket. Plus, hot dogs, soda, and programs are only $1 while other great deals will be available throughout the ballpark. And residents of Portage are invited out for Portage Community Night where fans can get a $1 off their tickets with a valid Indiana ID. On top of all this, RailCats fans could walk away from the ballpark with more cash in their pocket as U. S. Steel Yard presents Gold Rush, sponsored by The Gold Refinery of Chicago (www.thegoldrefinery.com). The Gold Refinery will melt down any gold jewelry and pay cash for it. Groups who bring 20 or more can receive discounted tickets as well.
Tuesday, August 4, the promotions continue as the RailCats will, once again, give away White Sox ticket vouchers to the first 2,500 fans through the gates, courtesy of Comcast. And The Gold Refinery of Chicago will join the RailCats for another night, trading cash for gold. The RailCats will also celebrate Latino Family Night, inviting all Latino families out to U. S. Steel Yard to honor Latino heritage and culture around Northwest Indiana. Pre-game and in between inning music will be presented by DJ-Z Entertainment, in conjunction with WGVE 88.7 FM. And the giveaways continue as the fourth of five sets of RailCats baseball cards will be given to the first 1,000 fans through the gates, presented by U. S. Steel Gary Works.
Wednesday, August 5, don't bother cooking dinner for the children as the RailCats present Kids Eat Free Night. All kids (12 & under) through the gates receive a voucher for a free dinner, courtesy of Aramark. Kids can take their vouchers to any concession stand at the park for a free hot dog and soda. The RailCats will also present another Picture Pack Giveaway, courtesy of Great Lakes Orthopedics. The first 1,000 fans will receive a picture pack featuring shots of RailCats players and coaches who will be available to sign their photos on the concourse near the main entrance until 6:30.
Thursday, August 6, will mark one of the biggest promotional days of the season when The Famous Chicken makes his return to U. S. Steel Yard. Originally from San Diego, The Famous Chicken has been entertaining baseball fans around the world for decades, and this is his only appearance in Northwest Indiana in 2009. More information on The Chicken is at www.famouschicken.com. It is also a Thirsty Thursday presented by North Coast Distributing and X-Rock 103.9 FM. Fans 21 & older can enjoy $2 MGD and Miller Lite drafts at the ballpark while the RailCats invite all Gary and Miller residents out on Gary & Miller Community Night. All Gary residents get $1 off their tickets with a valid Indiana ID.
Gates will open at 6 p.m. for the entire series with 7 p.m. first pitches as the RailCats and Schaumburg Flyers square off for four games. Tickets are available but going fast and can be purchased by calling 219.882.2255, by visiting the U. S. Steel Yard Box Office, or by logging onto www.railcatsbaseball.com.
