Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release
LINCOLN, NE - The Gary South Shore RailCats have signed RHP Charle Rosario and placed LHP Rene Solis on the Disabled List. Rosario was in camp during the spring with the RailCats and was one of the final cuts to the roster. Rosario was the early favorite to win the number one starter role but lost out to Zac Treece, who was traded on Saturday to Lake Erie. The right hander will make his 2015 debut tonight and will start for the RailCats tonight at Lincoln.
The RailCats originally acquired Rosario from the Schaumburg Boomers (Frontier League) on 1/26 as player to be named from a previous trade. He was 2-0 with a 4.76 in seven games started for the Boomers working 39.2 IP for the Frontier League Champion. The veteran of eight minor league seasons was born in La Vega, Dominican Republic and began his pro career in 2007 in the Dominican Summer League for the Boston Red Sox. He played for the Red Sox organization for six seasons after signing with Boston as a free agent at the age of 18
Solis is a rookie out of San Antonio, Texas and St. Mary's University. In two games with the RailCats the lefty was 0-1 in 9.1 IP surrendering 11 hits with one walk and seven strike outs. He posted a 4.15 ERA in the two games for the South Shore.
The RailCats continue their four game road trip with game two of the series in Lincoln against the Saltdogs. The first pitch from Haymarket Park is scheduled for 6:35pm. The game can be heard on the radio on 95.9 WEFM in NWI and online at RailCatsbaseball.com. The club returns home on Friday to face the Kansas City T-Bones at 7:10pm at US Steel Yard.
