Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release
GARY, IN - The Gary SouthShore RailCats and the Northwest Indiana Families for Effective Autism Treatment (INFEAT) are bringing back the "Move Your Feet for INFEAT" autism walk and 5K to U. S. Steel Yard on Saturday, June 25th.
INFEAT's annual walk and 5K will include bounce houses, face painting, a resource fair with kids' activities, kids run the bases with Rusty, and raffles to support autism awareness. Registration for the 5K opens at 9:00 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. race start. The family walk registration will open at 1:30 p.m. and start at 2:30 p.m.
Admission starts at $10 for the individual or family walk and includes admission to the RailCats' 6:10pm games against the Lincoln Saltdogs. The cost of the 5K is $30 and includes a race shirt and a free domestic beer following the race. 5K Racers can get a discount ticket to that night's game for only $7! Participants can register for the event at http://www.infeat.org/.
The RailCats will wear "Puzzle Piece" uniforms that will be auctioned off during the game with proceeds benefitting INFEAT's autism programs. The puzzle piece symbol was created by the National Autistic Society in 1963 to signify the diversity of those on the autism spectrum and the complexities of autism and how it affects people.
INFEAT is a group of parents and professionals in Northwest Indiana who have, or work with, children diagnosed with autism, ASDs (Autism Spectrum Disorders) or PDD-NOS (Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified) with a goal of providing accurate information, support, resources, and hope for Indiana families of children with autism.
The Gary SouthShore RailCats kick off their 15th season on the South Shore with the home opener on Friday, May 27th against the Joplin Blasters.
