LAST TIME OUT: The Rail Yard Dawgs offense erupted for five goals in a back-and-forth affair but the Fayetteville Marksmen ended the game with three unanswered and defeated the Dawgs, 8-5, Friday night at Berglund Center.

MOVIN' ON UP : Roanoke goaltender Brad Barone was called up to the ECHL's Norfolk Admirals on Saturday. He dressed as the Admirals backup during their wins on Saturday and Wednesday. Barone is the reigning SPHL Goaltender of the Year; he went 15-15-2 with a 2.93 GAA and league-leading .917 SV% last season. Roanoke local Mark Shifflett was added as an emergency backup during the week before Jacob Caffrey was signed on Thursday. Caffrey spent training camp with the Dawgs and has also served as an emergency backup for Knoxville this season.

A LITTLE BIT LEAKY: The Rail Yard Dawgs surrendered eight goals in Friday's 8-5 loss to Fayetteville, the most they have allowed in the young season and third most in a single game in franchise history.

JUST THE ONE: For the second consecutive week, the Rail Yard Dawgs will play only one game over the weekend. The restful weekends won't last however as Roanoke is scheduled to play at least two games in every remaining week of the regular season.

TAKE A SEAT: The SPHL announced on Tuesday that Dawgs winger Cody Dion has been suspended following his actions in Roanoke's 8-5 loss to Fayetteville last Friday. Dion received a fighting major and an aggressor game misconduct during a fracas in the third period. He will sit out Friday's matchup with the Ice Bears and, by rule, the Dawgs will play one skater short.

DAWGS IN TENNESSEE: The Rail Yard Dawgs have not historically played well in Tennessee; Roanoke is just 2-7-0 in nine all-time trips to the Knoxville Civic Coliseum. That trend began to reverse itself late in the 2017-18 season however as the Dawgs won in two of their last three trips to close out the season.

HAVE A DAY, JORDAN: Dawgs center Jordan Carvalho registered three points (1 G, 2 A) during the 8-5 loss to Fayetteville on Friday, good for a new career high. During his rookie year with Mississippi and Peoria in 2017-18, Carvalho had four multi-point games, all of them consisting of two-point performances.

THE OTHER GUYS: Knoxville has opened up its season 1-1-1, a record that includes an OT loss to the Dawgs. Their offense is paced by Lucas Bombardier, who leads the team with six points (3 G, 3 A) and was named SPHL Player of the Week for the first week of the season.

UP NEXT: Roanoke returns home for a pair of games against the last-place Evansville Thunderbolts next weekend. Friday's puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 PM at Berglund Center
