Prince Albert Raiders News Release
Prince Albert, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders (5-0-0-0) used a new franchise record to power past the Saskatoon Blades (3-1-0-0) with a 4-1 win on Sunday evening at the Art Hauser Centre.
The Raiders broke a team record for the fastest three consecutive goals scored in franchise history. Justin Nachbaur, Ozzy Wiesblatt, and Parker Kelly solved Nolan Maier 16 seconds apart to set the new benchmark, breaking a record set in 1987 of 22 seconds set by Wade Bucsis, Mike Modano, and Pat Elyniuk. The three-goal spree is also tied for the fastest three goals in WHL history.
After a scoreless first, the Raiders started their scoring spree at the 7:30 mark. Nachbaur banged home a rebound from the side of the goal to make it a 1-0 game. Nine seconds later, Kelly made a between the legs pass to find Wiesblatt alone at the side of the net and the rookie from Calgary made no mistake to put the Raiders up two. Seven seconds later, Brayden Pachal found Kelly streaking down the left wing and the Ottawa Senators prospect snapped a shot past Maier.
Kody McDonald increased the Raiders' lead later in the period. He redirected Brett Leason's slap-pass past Maier to make it a 4-0 game and snap his nine-game regular season goalless drought.
Ian Scott's shutout bid came to an end 6:36 into a penalty-filled third period. Tristen Robins tallied his first of the goal, potting a rebound over Scott's shoulder.
The Toronto Maple Leafs prospect made 28 saves for his fourth win of the season. Maier stopped 19 shots before being pulled for the third period. Dorrin Luding made 16 saves in the third period.
The Raiders hit the road for the next four games for an Alberta road trip beginning on Wednesday night in Medicine Hat against the Tigers at the Canalta Centre. Game time is 7 p.m. Catch all of our road games at The Rock And Iron Sports Bar.
The next home game is on Saturday, October 13 against the Red Deer Rebels on Parker Kelly Bobblehead Night presented by Canadian Tire. Puck drop is 7 p.m. Tickets are available at raiderhockey.com and the Raider Office.
