Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Broomfield, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Rage honored five players at the team's first annual Post-Season Awards Party exclusive to season ticket holders at Broomfield Event Center last night.

In a vote taken among the fans, Nathan Rosychuk was named the Rage's Hardest Working Player.

Best Defenseman honors went to Clay Plume, who finished second on the team in scoring among defensemen after achieving personal career bests in goals (8), assists (18), and points (26). Plume became the first and only Rocky Mountain skater to garner a weekly league award this season when he was named Central Hockey League Player of the Week for the week of March 5 - 11.

Defenseman Jordan Little received the Community Captain award for outstanding service to the fans and the community.

Forward Adam Stefishen, who led the Rage with 228 penalty minutes and 16 fighting majors, was voted Fan Favorite.

And finally, the team's lone CHL All-Star, Mark Wires, was named the Rage's 2006-07 Most Valuable Player. The third-year pro tied linemate Trevor Weisgerber for the team lead in scoring by setting new career highs for goals (19), assists (31), and points (50).

Other notable achievements by Rage players during the organization's inaugural season in the CHL included:

Defensive partners Craig Olynick and Plume were true ironmen by appearing in all 64 games this season. For Plume, it marked the second season in a row that he played every game, a feat he also accomplished in 2005-06 when he was a member of the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees.

Weisgerber actually one-upped the two D partners by playing in 65 games this season. He began the campaign by playing in the Lubbock Cotton Kings' first 28 games. Following a Jan. 2 trade to the Rage, Weisgerber then played in his new team's final 37 contests, giving him one more game played than the league's 64-game regular season slate.

Olynick finished the year as Rocky Mountain's leading defensive scorer. His career-high 29 points (6g-23a) included a team-record six-game point streak from March 2 - 14.

Goaltender David Guerrera recorded two shutouts this season - a 33-save gem on Jan. 28 in a 3-0 win over the Arizona Sundogs followed by a 26-save effort in the Rage's 6-0 trouncing of the Amarillo Gorillas on March 2. Guerrera also established a team record and new personal career best by making 53 saves during a 3-1 win on March 14 against the Gorillas. The fourth-year pro was named CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week of Dec. 25 - 31.

Dominic Noel scored a team-record and league season-high four goals during an 8-4 win against the Sundogs on Jan. 27.

Rocky Mountain ended its first season on March 25 with a 5-2 victory over the New Mexico Scorpions that featured a team-record five-goal outburst during the game's first period. The club finished the campaign in fourth-place in the Northwest Division with a record of 17-40-7 and 41 points.
