Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown SteelHounds Head Coach Kevin Kaminski announced today that the team has signed amateur right wing Rob Sirianni.

Sirianni, 23, joins the SteelHounds after a successful six-year career at both the Division 1, Bemidji State University and the Alberta Junior Hockey League's, Bonneyville Pontiacs. In his 6 year career, the 5-11, 195-pound right winger played in 252 regular, playoff and NCAA tournament games (131 at BSU and 121 with Bonneyville), posting 249 career points (123 goals, 126 assists) and 279 minutes in penalties.

Bemidji State's most notable hockey alumni is former NHL center Joel Otto who dressed in over a 1000 games in his career (including 122 Stanley Cup games) seeing action with both Calgary and Philadelphia.

The Edmonton native finished his senior season tied for first on the team in scoring with 29 points and led the way with 18 assists in 33 games played. He finished second on the team in scoring with 29 points (16-13=29) during his junior season and fourth during his sophomore year with 25 points (13-12=25). Over his four-year career, Sirianni scored 18 power play goals and seven game winning or game tying goals.

"It's great to get a player of Rob's ability heading into the post season," said Kaminski. " I feel with his speed and desire to compete that he will fit right in with the hard work ethic this club brings to the ice each game. I am planning on getting him into the line-up against Colorado and I feel he'll do a great job."

The SteelHounds begin their quest for the cup on Friday in Colorado in the first game of a best-of-seven series versus the Eagles. Face-off is scheduled for 9:05 PM (EST).
