Rafters Open Three-Game Homestand

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (5-7) look to pick up their second-straight win with a home matchup against the Madison Mallards (11-1).

The Rafters struck first on the road Saturday against the Lakeshore Chinooks and did not slow down on their way to a 5-0 shutout victory. Nathan Hemmerling got the win with six shutout innings as the starter.

Both Josh Nicoloff and Rich Ciufo have an RBI apiece in each of the last two games, with Ciufo hitting his first home run of the season on Friday night. Richie Schiekofer leads the Rafters offense into a two-game series with Madison, hitting .405 with two RBIs.

Matt Osterberg gets the nod from Rafters manager Craig Noto tonight. He has a 1-0 record and 10 strikeouts through one start for Wisconsin Rapids. Madison righty Quinn Gudaitis is projected to start for the Mallards. He has a 3.72 ERA and a 2-0 record thus far in 2019.

The Rafters and Mallards finish their series Monday at 6:35 on Cartoon Night and Autism Awareness night at Historic Witter Field. Wisconsin Rapids closes out the homestand with an 11:35 matchup against the Wisconsin Woodchucks for Cellcom Kids Day.
