Radin Gives Dawgs 3-2 OT Win at Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, NC. - The Rail Yard Dawgs swept a three game in three days stretch for the first time since February 2018, beating the Fayetteville Marksmen 3-2 in overtime on Saturday night at Crown Coliseum. Dillon Radin tallied the game-winning power play goal for Roanoke, while Josh Nenadal and Travis Broughman scored as well.

The first period was tightly-contested, as Fayetteville held a slight edge on power play chances and shots on goal. At 17:28, Austin Alger gave the Marksmen the lead by smashing in a power play on a slim angle at the left goal post. Fayetteville took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

Roanoke roared to life in the second period, as Nenadal smashed home a rebound on a Sean Leonard assist at 2:18. Broughman banked the puck off of the back of Fayetteville goalie Brent Moran at 4:15, putting the Dawgs ahead 2-1. The lead was short lived, as Zach Remers tied the score at 2-2 at the 5:03 mark for Fayetteville. There were 30 combined shots in the period, as the game remained tied entering the third period.

Both teams grappled for the advantage in the third period, with Roanoke outshooting Fayetteville 9-7. Neither team could tally a goal in the final 20 minutes of regulation, sending the game to overtime. A tripping call against the Marksmen put the Dawgs on a 4-on-3 power play at the 50 second mark in the extra frame. Radin hammered home a rebound assisted by Nick DeVito and Leonard, as the Dawgs took the extra point to extend their win streak to four games, in addition to a five-game point streak.

Austyn Roudebush stopped 33-of-35 shots for Roanoke, while Brent Moran saved 33-of-36 shots faced for the Marksmen. Both teams were 1-for-3 on the power play.

Roanoke will return home next Saturday, December 10 at 7:05 p.m. EST against the Birmingham Bulls at Berglund Center.
