
R-Braves announce 2008 schedule

Richmond, VA - The Richmond Braves open the 2008 season and defense of their Governors' Cup championship Thursday, April 3 vs. the Rochester Red Wings at 4 PM at The Diamond. The Braves open the season with an eight game homestand.
The Braves are again slated to play 72 home games at The Diamond in 2008. Schedule highlights include the annual Fireworks Extravaganzas July 4 and 5 vs. Norfolk at 6 PM, a Father's Day contest Sunday, June 15 vs. Charlotte at 2 PM, and the regular season finale vs. Norfolk on Labor Day, September 1 at 2 PM.
The schedule will feature more divisional play in 2008. The Braves will face South Division clubs 64 times, North Division foes 48 times, and West Division opponents 32 times. 36 of Richmond's 72 home dates fall on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The Braves longest homestand is 10 games (in June) and their longest road trip is 12 games (in July). 19 of the Braves 72 home games, including all Sundays, are afternoon contests. Night home games will again start at 7 PM, with the exception of the two Fireworks Extravaganza contests (6 PM). All Sundays are 2 PM starts. Weekday home afternoon games begin at 1 PM, with the exception of Opening Day (4 PM) and Labor Day (2 PM).
