Pittsburgh Penguins Recall Jeff Taffe

The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Jeff Taffe from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and have assigned center Tim Brent to their AHL affiliate, it was announced today by Executive Vice President/General Manager Ray Shero.

Taffe signed with the Penguins as a free agent on July 13th, 2007. He participated in training camp with the club before being assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on September 22nd.

Brent was acquired in a trade from Anaheim on June 23rd, 2007. He played his first NHL season with the Anaheim Ducks in 2006-07 scoring one goal in 15 games played.

The Penguins have 16 forwards, nine defensemen, and two goaltenders for a total of 27 players currently in training camp.

The team will play its final two preseason games vs. the Buffalo Sabres. The Penguins host Buffalo on Friday, September 28th at Mellon Arena beginning at 7:30, then visit Buffalo on Saturday, September 29th.
