GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars' Veeck Family "Night of 100 Promotions" has been recognized by Minor League Baseball as a finalist for this year's Golden Bobblehead awards. The promotion, which took place on August 11, is one of five finalists in the "Best Theme Night" category, and the winner will be announced at next month's Minor League Baseball Promotional Seminar, to be held September 23-26 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Fans can view a complete list of finalists at http://promo.milb.net/11_Awards.aspx.

Last Thursday's "Night of 100 Promotions" event welcomed more than 10,000 fans to Elfstrom Stadium as Cougars staff successfully executed a total of 100 promotions taking place before, during and after the game. Special guests that evening included former Chicago White Sox organist Nancy Faust, baseball executive Roland Hemond and promotions visionary Mike Veeck. Creatively-driven promotions and contests surrounded the evening, such as the Cougars grounds crew dragging the infield while wearing drag. Randomly-selected fans helped out with broadcasting duties, announcing "Play Ball" and delivering the Cougars' lineup card to the umpires. Fans also enjoyed several Chicago-themed ballpark promotions such as a record-tossing contest, a ballpark shower and an ivy seed giveaway, to pay homage to Chicago's rich baseball history. The evening culminated with a flash mob on the field that included Ozzie T. Cougar.

While in Myrtle Beach as part of minor league baseball's annual promotional seminar, Cougars staff will have two minutes to present the "Night of 100 Promotions" to their peers affiliated with other minor league teams, as well as Minor League Baseball staff. More than 150 nominations from various minor league teams were considered.

"We're honored to be recognized by our colleagues as a finalist for one of this year's Minor League Baseball Golden Bobblehead awards," said Cougars Director of Public Relations Shawn Touney. "Since last Thursday, we have received countless comments from our fans, talking about how much fun they had at the 'Night of 100 Promotions' and how they'll never forget that evening."
