(PHOENIX) - The Arizona Diamondbacks announced today they have selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Wade Miley from Triple-A Reno, placed right-handed pitcher Jason Marquis on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right fibula and designated right-handed pitcher Kevin Mulvey for assignment, according to D-backs' Executive Vice President and General Manager Kevin Towers.

Miley, 24, was 4-1 with a 3.64 ERA (22 ER in 54.1 IP) and .255 opponents average with 16 walks and 56 strikeouts in 8 starts with the Aces. In 14 starts with Double-A Mobile, before his promotion to Reno on July 1, he went 4-2 with a 4.78 ERA (40 ER in 75.1 IP) and .257 opponents average with 28 walks and 46 strikeouts. In his most recent outing on Aug. 13 in New Orleans, he tossed his first career 9.0-inning complete game, allowing a run on 3 hits and a walk with 9 strikeouts with a stretch of 22 consecutive batters retired. He garnered Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week honors for Aug. 8-14 for his efforts. In 2010, he was named the D-backs' Minor League Pitcher of the Year after finishing second in the organization with a 2.65 ERA (45 ER in 153.0 IP) and posting a combined 9-7 record in 27 starts between Single-A Visalia and Mobile. Over parts of four seasons in the D-backs organization, Miley went 24-21 with a 3.69 ERA (173 ER in 422.1 IP) and .264 opponents average (424-for-1607) with 147 walks and 328 strikeouts in 80 games (73 starts). Miley was selected by the D-backs in the supplemental round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft. He will wear No. 36 for his first stint in the Major Leagues.

Marquis, 32, was 0-1 with a 9.53 ERA (12 ER in 11.1 IP) and .386 opponents average with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts in 3 starts with the D-backs. He was acquired from the Washington Nationals for minor league infielder Zachary Walters on July 30. Marquis went 8-5 with a 3.95 ERA (53 ER in 120.2 IP) and .283 opponents average with 39 walks and 71 strikeouts in 20 starts for the Nationals.

Mulvey, 26, was 3-7 with a 6.98 ERA (62 ER in 80.0 IP) and .335 opponents average with 37 walks and 44 strikeouts in 15 starts for the Aces this season.
