Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI - Lorenzo Quintana clubbed three dingers, scored a club-record five runs, and plated six Monday night as the Hooks mashed Northwest Arkansas, 15-6, to sweep the series at Whataburger Field.

The Hooks (14-4, 57-30), who have won nine of their last 10 games, finished the 5-1 homestand at a season-best 27 games over .500.

Quintana is the third player in Hooks history to notch a three-homer game, joining the ranks of J.D. Davis (2016) and Domingo Santana (2013).

Monday night marked Quintana's second multi-homer game of the year. Of the Cuban catcher's eight home runs this season, seven have come at the expense of Northwest Arkansas.

Corpus Christi scored in seven of its eight turns at-bat, including the first when a pair came home on Randy Cesar's base hit into right field.

Quintana, batting in the eight-hole, belted a lead-off shot in the second off Dallas Beeler, who was making his debut as a Kansas City farmhand.

Quintana lifted a three-run bomb to left field in the third, handing the Hooks a 6-4 lead.

Abraham Toro notched an RBI double in the fourth, and Stephen Wrenn added a run-scoring two-bagger in the fifth.

Corpus Christi sent 10 men to bat in the sixth. Josh Rojas, Cesar, and Toro drove in the first three runs with a single, double, and single, respectively. Quintana capped the stanza with a two-run homer off Walker Sheller.

The Hooks, who went 10-for-24 with men in scoring position, rolled another pair in the seventh.

Akeem Bostick (1-2) worked six innings to garner the win.

Justin Ferrell tossed two scoreless innings, and Kit Scheetz struck out the side in a perfect ninth.

The Naturals used six pitchers in the setback.

Following an off day, Corpus Christi opens a four-game set at Midland Wednesday night. Jorge Alcala (1-2, 2.77) is set to face RockHounds right-hander Kyle Friedrichs (6-5, 5.66) in the opener. First pitch 6:30.
