Modesto Nuts News Release
Modesto, CA. - Three Stockton Ports pitchers stifled the Modesto Nuts' bats in a 5-2 loss on Wednesday night at John Thurman Field.
A.J. Puk started for the Ports (8-5) and struck out seven over four innings of work. He surrendered two unearned runs in the third. Braden Bishop and Chris Mariscal walked before Joey Curletta bounced a ball to third that Mikey White muffed. The error at third allowed the two runs to score before the Ports staff shut things down the rest of the way.
Puk retired the next hitter which started a stretch of 18 in a row sent down. Boomer Biegalski (W, 1-0) worked four perfect innings with one strikeout. Carlos Navas (S, 1/1) worked around a double in the ninth to close out the game.
The Ports struck against Nuts' (7-6) starter Anthony Misiewicz in the third. Seth Brown smacked a two-out, two-run single to score two walks. Misiewicz went five innings and struck out four while allowing just three hits.
The Ports took the lead in the seventh against Kody Kerski (L, 0-1). After Kerski and Misiewicz had retired a combined 12 in a row, Brett Siddall smacked a two-out single. Tyler Ramirez added a single before Eli White gave the Ports the lead for good with a two-run double.
The Nuts go for the series split in the finale of a four-game series against the Ports on Thursday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. Coverage on ModestoNuts.com will start at 1:55 p.m. Listen live online on your phone, tablet or PC .
