NAHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights

Quick Hits: NAHL Game 20 Preview

November 14, 2018 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights News Release

Thursday afternoon, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights (6-12-1, 13pts.) finish the first third of their North American Hockey League 2018-2019 schedule, facing off against the Jamestown Rebels (9-8-2, 20pts.) at Revolution Ice Centre.

UnSIXcessful

Last time out, the Knights scored a season high six goals in what turned out to be a loss. The New Jersey Titans took an 8-6 goal scoring frenzy Saturday night, handing Wilkes-Barre their eighth loss in the last nine games.

Zach Stejskal took the loss after making 53 saves in a shutout performance over New Jersey the day prior. Samuel Vyletelka came in relief to play the third for the Knights. Forward Jacob Badal led the way in scoring with his first multi-point game in "the league of opportunity", firing home a goal and two assists.

Bronte Is Due

Since a triumphant return to the Knights scoring three goals in his first weekend back with the club in late September, center Tyrone Bronte has just one goal in the 13 games since. The Bemidji State bound forward has 11 points on the year, and three assists in his last three games.

After a 15 goal season last year, Bronte is expected to contribute on the goal scoring end of things. He's had chances in each of the last four games, but yet to convert. Bronte did score in two of the three games against the Rebels in last year's playoff series, so perhaps facing an old foe helps him break out of this funk.

New York State Of Mind

With the relocation to Jamestown, NY, the Rebels find themselves sitting third in the NAHL East Division standings. The gap between Jamestown and second place New Jersey is six points, but the Rebels are also in a spot by half a dozen points, with the Northeast Generals sitting six points back in fifth.

Led by leading scorer Alex Frye, the Rebels have gathered points in seven of their last 10 games. The club is coming off a split with the Generals last weekend in Northwest Arena, which included a 5-1 Rebels win, spearheaded by Frye scoring two goals. In his final year of junior eligibility, Frye has eight goals and 15 points so far.

For What It's Worth

Jamestown took the two earlier games in the season against the Knights, winning 2-1 and 4-1 in the Empire State.

With their recent power play surge, Wilkes-Barre has pushed themselves to second in the league on the PP, clocking in at 23.6%. The Knights have seven power play goals in the last three games.

The Knights are 6-2 when Zach Stejskal makes 30 or more saves.

Thursday's 's game will be the 200th NAHL regular season game in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights history.
