Minot Minotauros News Release
by Ken Oda
Minot, ND - The Minotauros are proud to announce that second year forward Keenan Lund has committed to play NCAA DI hockey for the United States Air Force Academy. Lund becomes the first Tauro to commit during the 2018-19 season and 40th NCAA DI player overall. He is the second current Tauro to head to Air Force joining Connor McGinnis.
Lund said he chose Air Force because, "there are so many benefits, I love the coaching staff, and it will be a great place for me, I think I'll do very well there." Lund plans to study management at the Air Force Academy.
Tauros Head Coach and General Manager Marty Murray praised Lund, "he wasn't handed anything. He was one of the last forwards we invited to training camp last year. He put in a lot of extra work after practice and earned his way into the lineup." Lund, who played his first junior season with the Granite City Lumberjacks of the NA3HL agreed that his hard work paid off, "my hard work has shown that if you don't make an NAHL team coming out of high school if you keep working at your game you can reach your goals." Murray added, "he's a good kid, he's worked hard and that's the type of kid you root for."
Lund will finish his final junior season with the Tauros before heading to Air Force next season. He currently leads the Tauros in points (21), assists (15), and plus/minus (+11). Lastly Lund thanked "my parents for supporting me and my teammates for pushing me to get better." He continued "I've also had great coaching staffs in Sartell, Granite City, and now Minot."
