Queensbury Native Gets Call-up to Rochester

Glens Falls, NY – The Adirondack Frostbite, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), today announced that forward Ryan Bennett has been called-up by the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. This will be Bennett's first time playing at the AHL level. Bennett is expected to be in the Americans lineup Friday when Rochester takes on the Cleveland Barons. It has not been announced as to when Bennett may return to the Frostbite.

Bennett, 22, is in his first full professional season. In 70 games this year the rookie tailed 57 points (22g, 35a), which is tied for sixth on the Frostbite. Bennett is third in the league amongst rookie scorers and leads all rookies in short handed goals with five. He is also fourth amongst rookies in assists with 35, third in shots with 183 and leads all rookies in plus/minus at +32.

Bennett finished up his collegiate career last season with the University of Nebraska-Omaha, before joining Adirondack where he had two assists in his three games. With Nebraska-Omaha, the Queensbury, NY native had three points (2g, 1a) in three games. Prior to playing in Nebraska, Bennett skated at Lake Superior State University having an assist in 15 games.

Prior to joining the Frostbite Bennett had his best chance to prove himself in the United States Hockey League (USHL), with the Des-Moines Buccaneers and Omaha Lancers. Over a three year span the 6'0'' 210-pounder tallied 107 points (54g, 53a) in 145 games, while making the playoffs each of those seasons.

Bennett is one of two Frostbite players to be called up to the American Hockey League this season. Earlier this season Justin Kelly was called up to the Springfield Falcons.

The Frostbite return to action tomorrow against the Port Huron Beacons at McMorran Arena. Game time is at 7:05 pm and all the action can be heard with the voice of the Adirondack Frostbite Kevin Boryczki on 98.5 WCKM. The Frostbite continue the road trip Saturday in Flint and Sunday at Fort Wayne. Season Tickets for the 2005-06 season as well as playoff tickets for the 2004-05 season are on sale now at the Frostbite front office located at the Glen Street entrance of the Glens Falls Civic Center. Tickets may be purchased at the office from 9AM to 6PM Monday through Thursday and from 9AM to 5PM Friday or by calling 926-PUCK.
