Quebec tops Jackals in series finale

Little Falls, NJ – Les Capitales de Quebec put on an impressive offensive display in front of 4,553 Wednesday afternoon, piling up 14 runs on 16 hits to down the injury-ridden Jackals, 14-2.

Les Capitales put up two runs in the top of the second inning and the Jackals answered right back with one of their own, but the home squad would get no closer for the remainder of the ballgame.

Scoring six runs over the next four innings, Les Capitales put up another seven in the top of the seventh to bring the final tally to 14.

Zach Smithlin continued to swing a hot bat for the Jackals, going 3-for-5 and raising his batting average to a robust .459. Craig Conway and Ricardo Cordova also chipped in with two hits apiece.

For the visitors, Eddie Lantigua had another monster day, going 2-for-5 with 6 RBI, including a homerun, his fourth in the past three games. Leadoff hitter Benoit Emond had three hits and three runs scored, and Buck McNabb went a perfect 3-for-3.

Josh Brey went five innings, giving up five runs while falling to 1-1 on the season.

Julien Tucker improved to 2-0 on the season, going 6 1/3 and allowing only two runs while striking out six.

The Jackals have the day off tomorrow before embarking on a seven day, seven game road trip to Worcester and Elmira.
