QUEBEC TAKES 4-1 VICTORY OVER SUSSEX

AUGUSTA, N.J. - Four Quebec pitchers limited the Sussex Skyhawks to just one run on three hits as the Capitales picked up a 4-1 win on Tuesday night at Skylands Park.

Karl Gelinas threw five scoreless innings to pick up the win for Quebec. Gelinas (3-2) gave up just two hits, while walking one and striking out two. Rhett Barber, Derek McDaid and Jason Schutt combined to give up just one hit over the final four innings for Quebec. Roger Lincoln (4-4) took the loss for Sussex after giving up three runs (one earned) over seven innings. Lincoln scattered nine hits, while striking out two and not walking a batter.

Quebec took advantage of a Sussex error in the top of the fourth when, with two runners on base, a ball of the bat of Alex Nunez bounced off left fielder Ryan Crespi's glove and rolled to the wall for a three-base error. Two runs scored on the play, giving Quebec a 2-0 lead. Quebec added another run in the seventh on an RBI single by Josh Colafemina.

Sussex got on the board in the bottom of the seventh when catcher Ray Serrano blasted a solo home run to left to make it a 3-1 game.

The Skyhawks and Capitales return to action Wednesday in the final of the three game series. First pitch is set for 11 a.m.
