Quakes Struggles Continue in Defeat to Ports 6-3

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- The Quakes had to play catch up all night as Stockton jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on a two run single by Mike Affronti against starter Trevor Bell. But the Quakes had an answer in the bottom of the second on Brian Walker's second home run of the season.

Stockton scored a single run in the third on a two-out RBI double by Jed Morris, but Rancho came back again with a two-out RBI single by Drew Toussaint to trail 3-2 after three innings.

The Ports would knock out Bell in the fourth after scoring two runs on an RBI single by Affronti and a sacrifice fly by Josh Horton to lead 5-2.

The Quakes would cut the lead to two in the fifth on an RBI ground out from Anthony Norman to score Peter Bourjos to trail 5-3.

Rancho's bullpen was terrific with Jared Incinelli going four innings allowing just a solo home run to Chris Carter in the eighth and two hits and striking out five. Barret Browning went 1.2 innings and struck out four.

The Quakes brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth against reliever Sam Demel with two outs after a double by Peter Bourjos and a walk to Norman, but Wil Ortiz struck out to end the threat.

Rancho has now lost four in a row, 11 of their last 12, and will try to get back on the right track tomorrow with Tommy Mendoza on the mound against Trevor Cahill of the Ports. Game time is scheduled for 2:05pm.
