Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- The Quakes and 66ers have already faced each other seven times in 2009 and game three of this series was a gem.

Esmerlin Jimenez of the Quakes and Tim Sexton of Inland Empire both went six innings on the mound, with Jimenez allowing no runs on five hits and Sexton matching zeroes while allowing just four hits.

The game came down to the bullpen and the Quakes got two perfect innings from Sammy Leon to get Rancho through the 7th and 8th innings.

The Quakes got their runs on a two-run home run by Matt Sweeney, his third of the year, scoring Andrew Romine in the bottom of the 8th inning to take a 2-0 lead.

Ysmael Carmona came in for the 9th and he allowed a two-out hit, but struck out two to seal the 2-0 win for the Quakes, who won their third straight.

The Quakes will go for the sweep against Inland Empire in the series finale Sunday afternoon. Trevor Reckling will get the ball against left hander Alberto Bastardo of the 66ers. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05pm.
