Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- The 66ers were first on the scoreboard in Sunday's series finale with the Quakes as Alex Garabedian hit his first home run of the year against starter Trevor Reckling in the third inning, to give the 66ers a 1-0 lead.

The pitching took control after that as Reckling settled down and allowed just the one run and three hits in seven innings. Alberto Bastardo matched Reckling and then some as he did not allow a run on just two hits over his seven innings of work.

Quakes reliever Drew Taylor came in for the 8th and allowed a lead off walk to Garabedian and advanced him to second on a wild pitch. After a sacrifice bunt got the runner to third and strike out for the second out of the inning, Taylor induced a ground ball that went under the glove of first baseman Efren Navarro to allow another run to score. After a base-hit to Eduardo Perez, Tommy Giles hit a pop up on the infield that the Quakes couldn't come up with which produced another run making the score 3-0.

Inland Empire would add another run in the 9th on a safety squeeze laid down by Rafael Ynoa to give Inland Empire a 4-0 lead.

The Quakes had the tying run on deck in the 9th, but with runners on first and second, Matt Sweeney was robbed of extra bases by a leaping catch at the wall by left fielder Scott Van Slyke to end the game.

The Quakes will head up to High Desert on Monday for the first of three games. Alexander Torres will get the ball against right hander Juan Ramirez of the Mavericks. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.

The Quakes are the California League Affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. For more information about purchasing tickets, please call the Quakes Ticket Office at (909) 481-5252 or order online at www.rcquakes.com.
