Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - After weeks of struggling the Quakes' offense exploded on Saturday night, recording season-highs in runs and hits in a 13-6 win over the Visalia Rawhide.

Chris Jacobs and Austin Gallagher each drove in five runs, while Zach Lee earned his first win of the year.

Jacobs had a monster game, clubbing his first two homers of the year and finishing the night 4-for-4. Gallagher slugged the team's first grand slam of the season, highlighting a six-run second inning.

Lee was a little up and down, as he was spotted a 10-1 lead after just two innings, but struggled in the third, giving up four runs, as the Rawhide made it 10-5 after just two and a half innings.

Lee would settle down though, striking out a season-high nine batters over 6 1/3 innings. In avenging a loss last week to Visalia, Lee (1-1) allowed five runs (three earned) on ten hits.

Jacobs' first homer capped a four-run first, as the Quakes took a 4-0 lead over Visalia starter Alexander Carreras (1-2).

After a solo homer from Jon Griffin put Visalia on the board in the second, the Quakes struck for a season-high six runs in the bottom of the second, with Gallagher's grand slam and Jacobs' second bomb, highlighting the inning.

Rancho (7-10) will look to make it three of four over Visalia, sending Chris Reed (0-2) to the rubber on Sunday afternoon at 2:05pm. Visalia will counter with David Holmberg (1-2).

Sunday is our first of four U.S. Bank Youth Baseball Clinics, with registration starting at 9am and the Clinic actually beginning at 10am. Little Leaguers will receive FREE baseball instruction from Quakes' players and coaches and then enjoy an exclusive autograph session afterwards, all thanks to U.S. Bank.
