
Puppets Fall to Rival Otterbots

Burlington Sock Puppets News Release
BURLINGTON, N.C. - The Sock Puppets fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 13-4 loss to the Danville Otterbots on Saturday. Danville took the lead on a single in the first inning. The Burlington Sock Puppets struggled to contain the high-powered offense of the Otterbots, giving up 13 runs.
In the first inning, the Danville Otterbots got their offense started when Caleb Cali singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Burlington tallied four runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught by Burlington was led by Brenden Bell, Andrew Lujan, Benji Gilbert, and Nick Winkelmeyer, all driving in runs in the inning.
Danville scored three more runs in the sixth inning. The Otterbots offense in the inning was led by Cali and Talmadge LeCroy, who drove in runs.
Jake Crawford took the win for Danville The right-hander went two innings, allowing no runs on no hits, striking out three and walking one. Grant Leader and Brenner Maloney entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Nick Gottilla took the loss for Burlington Sock Puppets. Gottilla lasted three innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out four.
Tyler Judge started the game for Danville. Judge allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and not walking a batter.
Danville broke out the bats, hitting three home runs on the day. Cali went deep in the sixth inning. Chenar Brown had a long ball in the third inning. LeCroy had a four bagger in the sixth inning.
Cole Reynolds, Gilbert, and Lujan each collected one hit to lead Burlington. The Sock Puppets didn't commit an error in the game.
Danville Otterbots scattered 14 hits in the game. Cali, AJ Fritz, Brown, Morgan Colopy, and LeCroy each collected multiple hits for the Danville Otterbots. Cali went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Danville in hits.
The series finale against Danville will commence at 6PM from Burlington Athletic Stadium. The game will be seven innings.
