Providence Bruins News Release
The Providence Bruins announced today that they have re-signed forward Brendan Walsh to a contract for the upcoming 2004-05 season. Walsh had the best season of his career in 2003-04, his first as a Bruin. He established new career-highs in goals (10), assists (7) and points (17), while playing in 52 games. Walsh led the team and ranked seventh in the AHL with a career-high total of 281 PIM. He was also the co-recipient of the Bruins' Hendricks Memorial Fan Appreciation Award.
"Bringing Brendan back to our organization was a priority for us," said Bruins Co-President Jeff Fear. "Brendan brought a lot to the team last year, in terms of energy, offensive production and physical play. He became a fan favorite because of everything he gave to the team and its fans. We are excited that he will be back in Black and Gold this season."
Walsh, a 5'10", 200-pound native of Dorchester, Massachusetts, is entering his fourth professional season. He has 14-14-28 totals and 667 PIM in 129 career AHL games with Providence, San Antonio and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Walsh played two years of collegiate hockey at Boston University from 1995-97, before transferring to the University of Maine. With the Black Bears, he won the 1999 NCAA national championship, and returned to the Frozen Four the following season.
"I'm excited about coming back to Providence," said Walsh. "Last year was great for me. I had the best season of my career, while playing as a Bruin in my backyard. I'm just hoping to build off of last year and help our team toward a great season."
The Bruins are pleased to offer two current ticket specials. With every book of 10 FlexTix purchased, 2 FREE tickets for Opening Night will be added to the package.
