FLORENCE, SC – The Pee Dee Pride announced today that the team has taken an active role in the Pride Youth Hockey Association. A new board of directors is in place as the league looks forward to a successful 2004-2005 campaign.

PYHA's Executive Board consists of: Kevin O'Kelly (President), Tim Spence (Vice President), Cevyn Meyer (Secretary/Treasurer), Jack Capuano (Coaching Director) and Dave McClure (Head Referee). Remaining board members are Joe Babik, Kim Brown, Rickey Bryant, Bert Fullerton, Debbie Hyler, Mike Krell, Dean Lorenz, Dave Moore, Jeff Payne, and Mike Rose.

Registration for the 2004-2005 season will take place in early September, with games and practices slated to start in October. The season will be condensed, giving kids more ice time in a shorter amount of time. The season is scheduled to wrap-up in January. All coaches and referees in the PYHA must be USA Hockey certified.

"We look forward to a new and exciting year in the PYHA," O'Kelly said. "The board would like to welcome the youth of Florence to join us this season and play hockey."

"The Pride ownership and front office looks forward to taking an active role in the PYHA program this season," Pride Chief Operating Office Debbie Hyler said. "Youth hockey is a great way for kids to stay occupied through the winter months, and we are excited about the potential for growth in 2004-05."

"We appreciate all of the volunteers in the past who have contributed a great deal of time and effort in assisting the youth as either coaches or officials," Pride General Manager Jack Capuano said. "Moving forward, there is always a need for more volunteers, and we would like to actively solicit assistance for this upcoming season. Anyone who is interested in assisting the PYHA in any capacity is welcome to join the organization."

Copies of the league's new by laws are available to anyone upon request. If you would like to receive a copy, you can contact the Pride office at (843) 669-7825. The PYHA will also have an open meeting annually for members of the youth hockey association.
