
Gordons Contract Not To Be Renewed

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots announced today that the contract of Head Coach Todd Gordon will not be renewed for the 2004-2005 season.
"I want to thank Todd Gordon for his hard work and commitment to the Ice Pilots. Todd is a great person and a wonderful family man which I respect very much. In looking at every aspect of the organization, I felt a change needed to be made," said Ice Pilots Owner, President and Governor Tim Kerr.
"When I purchased the team last July, I promised the people of Pensacola that I would do my best to bring a winning organization on and off the ice. It is my goal to bring in a coach that has my philosophy on running the hockey team and to win a championship. Again, I thank Todd for his work this past season and wish him and his family the best of luck in the future," added Kerr.
Gordon was the head coach for the Ice Pilots for three seasons from 2001-2004 posting a regular season record of 111-81-24 and a 2-9 record in the playoffs.
In other news from the ECHL, the Ice Pilots will compete in the South Division of the American Conference this season. Augusta, Florida, Gwinnett, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas will be part of the division.
The league also announced a minimum of 10 shooters will participate in a shootout this season. After the initial 10 shooters have gone, the team has the option of using a player who has already shot or continuing through its remaining players.
The Ice Pilots will begin the 2004-2005 regular season at Mississippi on October 23 and play their home opener Saturday, October 30 vs. the Eastern Conference Champions Florida Everblades at 7:05 p.m.
Season tickets for all 36 home games for floor and glass seats are $649.44, side seats are $459.00, goal seats and lower upper seats are $411.84 and upper seats cost $324.00. 16 game plans, 8 game plans and flex packs also are available.
