Pride Smash Skyhawks; 14-3

(Nashua, N.H., July 16, 2008) The Nashua Pride hammered the Sussex Skyhawks, 14-3, on Wednesday, setting a new season high for runs scored in a game and setting a new Can-Am League record nailing three triples in a single game.

Pride left fielder Dennis Abreu blasted a grand slam in the game and extended his hitting streak to 17 consecutive games. Abreu finished the game 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, three runs scored, and four RBI. Pride catcher Mike Torres also batting in four runs, finishing the game 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI.

Nashua first baseman Bryan Duplissie, shortstop Sandy Almonte, and right fielder Jerod Edmondson each laced triples in the game. Duplissie finished 1-for-4 with two runs scored, Almonte went 1-for-5 with two RBI, while Edmondson was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Pride starter Hideki Nagasaka (6-2) earned the victory going six innings, giving up one run, on one hit, five walks and a season high eight strike outs. Reliever Brett Palanski pitched two scoreless innings as the first man out of the bullpen for the Pride, while Rich Garces pitched the ninth inning, and give up two runs, on two hits, one walk and three strike outs.

Skyhawks third baseman Jay Yaconetti had all the RBI on the day for Sussex, knocking in three runs and finishing the game 3-for-3 with a double.

Sussex staring pitcher Mark Michael suffered the loss, lasting one and two-thirds innings, giving up five runs, on five hits, two walks and one strike out. Reliever Rick Lawyer went three innings after Michael, giving up five runs, on six hits, two walks and one strike out. Khalid Afify gave up four runs in two and two-thirds innings for Sussex.

The Pride play next at Historic Holman Stadium on Thursday night, at 7:05pm, when they send Lance Stevens (4-3) to the mound against the Ottawa Rapidz. PGA golfer Allen Doyle will make a special guest appearance as a part of the Pride's Sports Fantasy Extravaganza Weekend.

The Nashua Pride Professional Baseball Club, entering its 11th season, provides a fun, affordable, community-based and fan-friendly source of sports entertainment. The 2007 Can-Am League Champions will be participating in its third year of play in the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball.
