Pride pound Sussex 9-3

(Nashua, NH, June 22) - Tom Creighton, James Lofton and Tommy Rojas belted two-run homers on Thursday night to power the Nashua Pride to a 9-3 victory over the Sussex Skyhawks in front of 1,150 at Historic Holman Stadium. With the win, Nashua (11-14) averted a three-game sweep and snapped a three-game losing streak.

Creighton capped a five-run Nashua second inning by going deep for the second time this season. Lofton's two-run shot cane in the fourth and Rojas completed the Nashua scoring with a two-run blast in the fifth. The three home runs marked a season high for the Pride. All three homers came off Sussex starter and loser Brian Ford (1-1). Lofton and Creighton each had three RBI's for Nashua. Josh Ury drove in all three runs for Sussex (17-10).

Nashua lefthander Raul Valdes (2-1) worked eight innings to earn the victory. He allowed all three Sussex runs on nine hits, walking three and striking out six. Jason Blanton worked a perfect ninth inning for the Pride.

The Pride hit the road for this weekend for three games starting Friday evening in Quebec City. Saturday's game at 7 pm and Sunday's game at 1 pm will be carried live on AM 1590 WSMN radio in Nashua and on line at www.wsmnradio.com.
