Pride Downed by Quebec, 9-2

(Nashua, N.H., August 22, 2008) The Quebec Capitales coasted past the Nashua Pride, 9-2, in front of 1445 fans at Historic Holman Stadium on Friday night.

Quebec left fielder Alex Nunez went 4-for-5 in the game with a double and a RBI to pace the Capitales offense. First baseman Eddie Lantigua was 2-for-5 in the game with a pair of RBI while second baseman Jean-Michel Rochon-Salvas went 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Capitales starter Karl Gelinas (2-0) earned the win going seven innings, giving up two runs, on eight hits, one walk and three strike outs. Reliever Felix Arellan went the final two innings for Quebec without allowing a run.

Pride starting pitcher Isaac Burkett (3-5) suffered the loss lasting three and two-thirds innings, giving up eight runs (seven earned), on eight hits, seven walks and two strike outs. Pride relievers Brett Palanski and Sean Heimpel combined to deal three and one-third innings of scoreless relief while Mike Joyce gave up one run, on three hits, in two innings of work.

Nashua received RBI from third baseman Argenis Tavarez, who went 1-for-4 with a double, and first baseman Bryan Duplissie who finished the game 2-for-4.

The Pride and Capitales will meet again on Saturday night, at 7:05pm, when Nashua sends Matt O'Brien (1-1) to the hill against Quebec's Luis Valdez (9-3).
