June 25, 2016 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Sporting Kansas City II News Release
The Swope Park Rangers are back in action this weekend when they head to the Pacific Northwest to take on Seattle Sounders FC 2 at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila, Wash. on Sunday, June 26. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT and the game will be available via live stream on SportingKC.com.
Heading into the weekend, the Rangers have posted a 4-7-2 (14 pts.) record following last Saturday's 3-1 home defeat to OKC Energy FC. SPR got off to a strong start in the game, taking the lead in the seventh minute through Ayrton, but OKC hit back and equalized just before halftime when Michael Thomas headed into the corner. Second-half goals from Wojciech Wojcik and Daniel Gonzalez sealed the points for OKC and left the Rangers with just one win in their last six games.
Seattle Sounders FC 2 are one point and one place below SPR in the USL Western Conference with a 3-7-4 (13 pts.) record, but have two of their three wins in their last two games. S2 claimed a 3-2 win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 on June 9 before earning a 2-1 victory over their other regional rival, Portland Timbers 2, in their last outing on June 14. Goals from Myron Samuel and John Magnus put Sounders 2 in a commanding position in that game before Blake Bodily pulled a goal back for Timbers 2 as the game finished 2-1.
Sunday's game marks the first-ever meeting between the Swope Park Rangers and Seattle Sounders FC 2. The two sides will conclude the season series in their final game of the regular season on Sept. 24 at Swope Soccer Village.
