FC Montreal Hosts Orlando City B this Sunday
June 25, 2016 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
FC Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - FC Montreal will host Orlando City B on Sunday, June 26, at 3pm at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex.
Fans can enter the stadium on the Southwest side of the field starting at 2pm. Tickets cost $5, with $1 going to the Montreal Impact Foundation. Admission is free for season ticket holders on presentation of their membership card.
It will be a first home game for the Bleu-blanc-noir since June 4, as the team comes back from a series of four games in 11 days on the road.
The team ended its trip with a 3-2 win against the Harrisburg City Islanders last Tuesday at FNB Field. In this game, Anthony Jackson-Hamel scored his third goal in three games, Zachary Sukunda tallied for the first time at the professional level and Mastanabal Kacher slammed in a high quality goal.
FC Montreal played that game with a reduced roster due to injuries and to four players leaving for the USSDA playoffs with the Impact U18 team. David Choinière, Thomas Meilleur-Giguère, Brandon Onkony and James Pantemis will miss Sunday's game as well, as they will play the last game of the first round of the playoffs.
Sunday's game will be the team's 15th this season, but only its 5th at home. FC Montreal played once against Orlando earlier this season, on May 1, at the Titan Soccer Complex. The game ended with a 1-0 loss on a goal from Michael Cox.
Orlando City B is currently in 8th position in the Eastern Conference with a 5-6-3 record. The team from Florida didn't win in its last two home games, allowing six goals. Cox is the team's top scorer with five goals.
"There's still some fatigue from the trip, and the roster is still limited with injuries and players that are missing," said head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. "But we hope to put on another good performance against Orlando on Sunday. The first game against them was weird because they got a player ejected early in the game. We dominated most aspects of the game, but didn't shoot on target enough. Since that game, we've been better statistically in the last third. It's a team that plays with a lot of MLS players."
"Orlando is a team that likes to possess the ball," said defender Zachary Sukunda. "They have most of the possession in their games and that's what we try to do as well. Our qualities should come out in a game like this. It's going to be a really tight game."
FC Montreal will play its next game on Monday, July 4, at 7:30pm at Louisville Slugger Field against Louisville City FC. The next home game will be on Saturday, July 9, at 3pm against New York Red Bulls II at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex.
