Tri-City (1-2-1-1) was held off the scoreboard for the first time this season in last night's road loss to the Waterloo Black Hawks. Today's game at the Viaero Center will mark Tri-City's second consecutive team against an undefeated team. Only the Waterloo Black Hawks (5-0-0-0) and the Dubuque Fighting Saints (3-0-0-0) have yet to drop a game in regular season play this year. Although the team fell short of tying the game at Young Arena, the game marked the second consecutive game that Tri-City has only allowed one goal. Following last night's performance in net, Storm goaltender Daniel Allin has now made 56 saves on his last 58 shots faced. Tri-City's penalty kills is 11 for 11 over its last three games. Last season, Tri-City swept the two game season series against the Fighting Saints with back to back road wins at the Mystique Ice Center in Dubuque, IA. Going back to the 2017-2018 season, Tri-City has won its last three games against Dubuque. This afternoon's game is the only visit to the Viaero Center this season for Dubuque.
Dubuque (3-0-0-0) hits the ice today at the Viaero Center for its battle with the Storm following a full week without games. Today's game is the Fighting Saints only game of the weekend, and its first true road game of the season. Dubuque plays its next four games on the road, before returning home to play six consecutive home games in November. Dubuque began its winning streak by defeating the Muskegon Lumberjacks 4-1 in its opening game of the Fall Classic. The Fighting Saints also defeated Madison 4-3 at the Fall Classic and won its home opener over Madison 3-2 last Saturday night. Through the first three games of the season, scoring leaders for the Fighting Saints include; Riese Gaber (3), Mark Cheremeta (2), Dylan Jackson (2), Matt Kopperud (1), Ryan Beck (1), Ben Schultheis (1), and Antonio Venuto (1).
