Kearney, NE - The Tri-City Storm host Team USA tonight at the Viaero Center for the first game of a two game weekend series. Tonight and tomorrow's games will be the only two played this season between the Storm and the United States National Team Development Program (USNTDP). The Under 18 Team USA team features seven players ranked in NHL Central Scouting's Top 50 North American Skaters list for this year's upcoming NHL Draft in Dallas, TX. Tri-City split last year's season's two game series with Team USA.

Tri-City (27-16-1-2) enters tonight's game with Team USA as the 5th place team in the Unites Stated Hockey League (USHL) Western Conference Standings. The Storm are 4-5-0-1 in their last 10 games and trail league leading Omaha by 8 points in the standings. Tri-City is 9-4-0-1 against teams from the Eastern Conference this season. The Storm have four games against Eastern Conference teams remaining on this season's schedule including two games against Team USA this weekend and two games on the road against defending Clark Cup Champion Chicago next weekend. Tri-City returns home this weekend after dropping a game to Sioux City in a shootout on the road last Sunday. Tyler Madden and Connor McMenamin each scored a 3rd period goal in the Storm's last contest but Tri-City ultimately fell in a shootout by a final score of 3-2. Storm goalie Connor Hopkins made his debut in goal last Friday night, replacing an injured Jake Barczewski during Tri-City's 4-1 home loss to Cedar Rapids. Hopkins started both Saturday and Sunday's games and went 1-0-0-1 in his first two career USHL starts. Through his three appearances in net, Hopkins now has a 2.23 GAA and a save percentage of .907.

Team USA (30-12-0-1) enters tonight's game as the 1st place team in the Eastern Conference standings. The U18s bring a high powered offense to the Viaero Center, as the only USHL team to score more than 200 goals this season (202). Oliver Walstrom, Joel Farabee, Mattias Samuelsson, Bode Wilde, K'Andre Miller, and Jonathan Gruden are all listed inside the Top 50 of NHL Central Scouting's North American Skaters list. An additional five Team USA players are ranked in the Top 100. Team USA is 7-3 over the last 10 games and is 14-5 on the road this season. The U18s are led in net by Drew DeRidder & Spencer Knight. DeRidder is a perfect 11-0 on the season with a 2.50 GAA and a .906 save percentage. Knight has seen action in 14 games this season and has a 9-3 record on the year. He sports a 2.92 GAA and a save percentage of .910. Forward Jack Hughes leads all Team USA skaters with 27 assists and 37 points on the season. Oliver Walstrom and Cole Caufield lead the team with 20 goals scored on the year.
