Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm host the Sioux City Musketeers tonight at the Viaero Center in Kearney following a 5-1 win against Sioux City last night. In last night's home win, Storm Captain Connor McMenamin netted two goals and Khristian Acosta, Colton Kalezic, and Brendan Furry also scored goals in the win. Jake Barczewski improved to 18-6 on the season after stopping 17 of 18 shots in goal. Tonight's Storm home game is the team's annual "Taste of Nebraska" game promotion. Puck drop at the Viaero Center is scheduled for 7:05pm.
Tri-City (37-10-2-1) increased its lead in the USHL league standings to three points following a 5-1 home win over Sioux City and a 3-2 overtime win for Dubuque over Muskegon. The Storm recorded its eighth win over the past ten games in last night's home win and seeks its 20th victory at the Viaero Center in tonight's game. With a win tonight, the 2018-2019 edition of the Tri-City Storm can become the 2nd team in organization history to win 38 games or more in a regular season. The 2003-2004 Anderson Cup Championship team holds the team record for most wins in a regular season with 43. With 12 games remaining the in the regular season, this year's Storm team currently has the best winning percentage of any team in organization history (.770).
Sioux City (22-20-5-2) enters tonight's game one point ahead of the Omaha Lancers for the 6th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference following last night's road loss to the Storm. Bobby Brink netted the Musketeers' only goal of the game in last night's loss. Sioux City is now 3-7 in its last 10 games and is in search of a bounce back road win in tonight's game. Sioux City travels to Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington, IL next weekend for two road games against the Eastern Conference's Central Illinois Flying Aces.
Tonight's home game promotion at the Viaero Center is "Taste of Nebraska" presented by First National Bank. Doors open at 6:05pm and puck drop between the Musketeers and Storm is scheduled for 7:05pm.
